On show night, a 14-hour day is typical for the catering crew. When they're moving from town to town, after the concert, instead of heading to a motel, the crew loads into the bus. Before Irvine, the last concert was in Arizona. "We drove all night and slept on the bus," Stone said. "When we arrived at 10 a.m. in Irvine, we went shopping at Whole Foods and H Mart, a Korean-Chinese supermarket. Then we started cooking.""

Green Day closes out its 2010 world tour in Costa Rica with a 3 1/2 hour long, 43-song set

Green Day played their final show of the 21st Century Breakdown tour, which started (partly) in April 2009, last night in Costa Rica.

"The show, which wound its way through the anthology of Green Day’s 23 years of punk hits, encapsulated what has kept Green Day atop a genre that has seen many others come and go during the ’90s and ’00s. Amid explosions, fireworks, water hoses on stage and several theatrical, crowd-involving diversions from the music, the group´s effervescent energy, embodied by front man Billie Joe Armstrong, remains just as highly charged as it was 16 years ago, when Green Day first found commercial success with the 1994 album “Dookie.”"

I hate television,” Armstrong said about halfway through the show. “I hate television. I hate the internet. I hate cell phones. I hate cameras. I hate everything that destroys creativity.”

“I hate parties too,” he said. “But tonight is not a party. It’s a celebration. It’s you, it’s me, it’s us here tonight in Costa Rica. And let’s celebrate it! Pura Vida Costa Rica!”

Green Day's in South America!!

Today, Green Day will begin his tour of South America in Caracas, Venezuela, at the Campo de Futbol Universidad Simon Bolivar. This will be their first tour in South America after they last did it 10 years ago.

Mike Dirnt talks to Radio W about Green Day's upcoming South American tour

Mike Dirnt did an interview with Radio W discussing Green Day's upcoming show on October 10th in Bogota, Colombia 

Mike also discussed working on the new album.

"We are always working on songs, when its time and when the music is right we will put it out. I like to think that we have enough material right now to put out a great record, but we want to go back home and make sure that it's perfect for everybody before we put it out."

Mike also mentions about the upcoming live album and that there will "most likely" be a DVD that will be released.

Green Day begins their South American tour on October 8th in Caracas, Venezuela.

MTV Brazil Opening Band Contest

MTV Brazil is currently holding a contest to choose an opening band for Green Day when they play in Sao Paulo, Brazil on October 20th.

In the first round of the contest 30 bands will be picked and judged by a group of Brazilian music stars, and they will choose five finalists. From there the five chosen bands will have to play a club show in Sao Paulo and the best band will be selected as the winner.

Green Day throws down epic show at DTE

it's not often you see crowd surfers at DTE Energy Music Theatre, but 10 minutes into Green Day's electrifying show at the Clarkston amphitheatre Monday, a fan hurled himself off the stage and into the waiting arms of the amped-up crowd. 

The energy level of that moment was sustained throughout the epic 2-hour, 45-minute concert, which once again proved that Green Day is one of the best live acts working today. Culling from more than 15 years of hits, the band's manic energy never wavered, and frontman Billie Joe Armstrong was the gasoline that kept the engine running. He's not just the band's leader, he's its master of ceremonies, and he commands Green Day -- as well as the crowd -- like he's in the world's biggest party band. 

The band opened with "21st Century Breakdown's" title track and charged through "Know Your Enemy" and "East Jesus Nowhere." Enacting its customary open door policy with fans, the band brought up members of the crowd during a number of songs, letting a fan sing "Longview" and inviting 40-50 kids on stage during "2,000 Light Years Away." The kids' reactions were priceless, their unbridled enthusiasm only enhancing the performances. 

The set's strongest portion came during a run-through of the band's '90s hits, including "Hitchin' a Ride," "Brain Stew," "Basket Case" and "She." The drag anthem "King for a Day" was given its usual extended run, including portions of "Shout," its free-for-all spirit juxtaposing nicely with the solemn "21 Guns" that followed.

New Green Day live album coming soon?

The band just posted on their twitter account that there is a possibility for a new live album soon.

'We've been recording our live shows since the beginning of tour. Possible Live album coming. A ton of songs! We're in texas!'

There hasn't been a live album released from the 21st Century Breakdown tour yet so this would be great if we got one. There was an EP released earlier this year titled "Last Night on Earth (Live in Tokyo)" that featured a couple songs recorded in Japan last year. Before that EP release, the last live album released was Bullet in a Bible.

We will keep you up to date if any more news comes out out this.

2 days ago, Green Day performed in Toronto, Canada, and the reviews are coming in. Billie Joe sent out a tweet shortly after the show, saying :

Green Day rock solid at Manfield, MA Comcast Center

MANSFIELD - Original '90s punk rockers Green Day showed the years haven't aged them as they took the stage at the Comcast Center Monday night for their last New England stop.

The band, lead by vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, blasted its way further into the hearts of fans with fire, jumps and fireworks, calling people on stage randomly throughout the night and just having a great time with the show.

From the start, Green Day worked the crowd into an uproar just by launching into the song "21st Century Breakdown," and Armstrong screamed at fans to raise their hands.The fans could not but help to obey the masters of punk and rock.

"We're going to party all night New England!" Armstrong shouted.

Mixed in with Green Day's chant of "hey oh", Armstrong called out to Massachusetts and New England repeatedly. The band stuck to mostly its later albums, with songs from the albums "21st Century Breakdown," and "American Idiot."

"Viva la Gloria!" was a hit, which started off with Armstrong showing his versatility as a singer and doing a ballad. Throughout the concert, Armstrong showed he was more than a punk rocker; he knows his stuff. He picked up the saxophone for a song, as well as a harmonica.

"All right New England, let's start a war! Viva la revolution!" Armstrong banged on his guitar, and then all of Green Day followed with "Holiday."

Week 2 of North American tour

Today begins week number two for Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown North American tour. After last week's awesome shows in New Jersey, New York, and at Lollapalooza, .Green day has been playing a lot of "older" songs as of late as well as some live rarities including Letterbomb, She's a Rebel (acoustic), Paper Lanterns, and many more.

Green Day's take on life in 2010 - USA Weekend

USA Weekend had a short mention of Green Day last month about their take of 2010 (so far). 

'Mike Dirnt's parents are 'very supportive of what we do - but they've got their own lives, too,' says the bassist, 38. 'I'll ask them to come out and see something, and it'll be, 'I'm not getting on a plane!''

Green Day kicks off US tour with a smash

Green Day tore up the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, New Jersey last night kicking off the second leg of their US tour with a bang. The show included 32 songs that spanned through the bands full back catalog ranging from 1990 to 2009.

Some from the highlights of the show included when roughly 10 fans climbed up on stage to dance around during '2000 Light Years Away'. Shortly after during 'Hitchin a Ride' Billie stopped the show to make sure a fan in the pit was okay. Lastly the setlist as a whole was one big highlight.

RollingStone.com has posted up their review of last night's show stating that even after 22 years Green Day still hasn't lost a beat. 

'The real meat of the show was aimed at the over-30 set, with 13 straight songs spanning 1990-1997. Even Armstrong's look was a callback to this era; gone were the guyliner and pitch-black hair of the '00s, replaced by the bottle-blond mess of 1994. (Armstrong's explanation: "I went to the hair salon and I said, 'Can you give me the Justin Bieber look?' And this is what I got.")'

Shortly after the show had come to a close Billie Joe posted this following message on Twitter:

Green Day's North American tour held this day

Today the second leg of Green Day's North American tour kicks off in Camden, New Jersey at the Susquehanna Bank Center with AFI opening.

Statements that critics made about the first leg of the US tour include:

Green day Radies American "Breakdown"

 After a Friday (7/30) appearance on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," Green Day [ tickets ] will launch a summer stadium tour of both North and South America in support of last year's "21st Century Breakdown."

The band -- singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool -- kick off the trek Aug. 3 in Camden, NJ. The 18-city U.S. portion, which includes an Aug. 7 appearance at Chicago's Lollapalooza, wraps up Sept. 4 in San Francisco. After a month-long break, the trio will work its way through South America, beginning with an Oct. 8 performance in Caracas, Venezuela. 

The full itinerary, including international dates, is shown at right.
Tickets for most U.S. shows are available now via Live Nation. Green Day unveiled "21st Century Breakdown," the group's eighth studio effort, in May 2009. The set, which topped The Billboard 200 and several international charts, marked the band's first collection of new material since 2004's "American Idiot."

Earlier this year, Green Day took home a Grammy for Best Rock Album for the recent release. The group's Green Day Rock Band video game is currently in the running for Best Video Game at the Teen Choice Awards, which airs Aug. 9 on Fox.

Update from Green Day about Italy show

As we posted a couple days ago, Green Day's performance was canceled at at the Jammin Festival in Italy after a really bad storm. I know many of you who showed up were disappointed, as was the band. Here's an update from them about the show.

'We wanted to let all of our Italian fans know that we are very disappointed that we were not able to perform last night at the Heineken Festival in Venice. For those that do not know, a very bad thunder storm hit the festival about 30 minutes before we were scheduled to play. The storm was insane! Thunder, lightning, hail and the hardest rain we have ever seen! The storm only lasted a little over an hour but the flooding and damage to the stage and sound system were severe. As the techs were attempting to make repairs the fire brigade and city safety officials made the call that the show was cancelled. We stayed on site at the festival until late in the evening hoping that we could find a way to still play. This was not the way we wanted to end our tour! We love our fans and love Italy! We are just as disappointed as all of our fans that the show was cancelled.

Billie Joe brings out acoustic "oldies" in Prague

A couple days ago Green Day played an amazing show in Prague, which included such live rarities as Viva La Gloria!, Maria, Stuck With Me, Paper Lanterns, and Extraordinary Girl. A link to the full set-list can be found on the tour page.

But the coolest of all that was Billie playing an acoustic solo of Redundant and Words I Might Have Ate. The two songs were recorded and posted on YouTube and can be watched below.

Green Day play the biggest show of their 'fucking lives' at London's Wembley Stadium

American pop punk trio also get into the World Cup spirit

The American punk pop trio played a mammoth two hour and 50 minute set from their 20 year backcatalogue featuring tracks and hits from seven of their eight albums as they peppered their set with pyrotechnics and shooting flames.

Arriving onstage to huge cheers, drummer Tre Cool charged down the catwalk before launching his drumsticks onto the main stage as the band kicked off the show with '21st Century Breakdown' opener 'Song Of The Century'.

Then singer Billie Joe Armstrong ordered the whole of the stadium to stand up as he declared: "This is the biggest fucking show we have ever had in our lives. This is going to be the best rock 'n' roll show Wembley has ever seen."

Throughout the gig, the singer declared his love for England and wrapped himself in the St George's flag and wore a wig with the cross on, on a number of occasions.

As ever the charismatic frontman brought several fans onstage to help out on vocals to the point where one fan sang the whole of 'Longview' while the rest of the band played on.

Earlier, the whole stadium sang in unison to their hit single 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams' before Joe Armstrong joked: "Fucking Green Day is going to win the goddamn World Cup I can tell you that now."

During the first part of the show, the trio also performed a short medley of covers, which you can watch below, that included a cover of Black Sabbath's 'Iron Man', Guns N' Roses' hit 'Sweet Child O Mine' and AC/DC's 'Highway To Hell'.

The band then launched into 1995 single 'Brain Stew', which saw Joe Armstrong spray the crowd with a giant hose which he passed to a fan he pulled up onstage while he fired toilet roll from a gun into the crowd.

He then went a stage further and started shooting t-shirts out into the crowd with a giant gun.

Later the band were backed by saxophonist for 'King Of The Day' while their singer marched onstage with a silver crown and a white feather boa.

The track then segued into a huge medley which began with Tre Cool, who was wearing a red bra, white hat and black Dame Edna style glasses, constantly singing the lyrics to Lulu's classic hit 'Shout' before their frontman took over as he went on to sing Life Of Brian anthem 'Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life', 'Teenage Kicks', Can't Get No Satisfaction', 'Hey Jude' and 'Paint It Black'.

As the band started to wrap up the show, Joe Armstrong told the crowd: "I tell you one thing, I'm going to remember this for the rest of my fucking life," as he launched into an acoustic version of 'When It's Time'.

The band closed the show with 'Wake Me Up When September Ends' and 'Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)' to huge cheers.
