Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer at 92nd Street Y (Photos)

Green Day songwriter and front man Billie Joe Armstrong and his American Idiot director Michael Mayer took part in a discussion with producer Jordan Roth at the 92nd Street Y Sept. 19. The event was part of the venue’s “Broadway Talks” series.

Later in the schedule, Roth will speak with Tony winner David Hyde Pierce on Oct. 24 and theatre luminary Elaine Stritch on Dec. 6.

Here is a look at Roth, Mayer and Billie Joe Armstrong last night, as well as visitor John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig and the Angry Inch):

Billboard Celeb Tattoo Tour

Billie Joe has made tattoo artist Kat Von D's top 20 celebrity tattoos list . At number 10 on her list, she talks about Billie's "photo booth" tattoo on his right arm. 

'"It sort of looks like a photo booth," says Von D. "I like it because it's very graphic and very pop art-esque. It almost reminds you of an Andy Warhol painting but I'd be curious to find out who that is." The picture is a filmstrip of Billie Joe's wife, Adrienne.'

Green Day kicks off US tour with a smash

Green Day tore up the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, New Jersey last night kicking off the second leg of their US tour with a bang. The show included 32 songs that spanned through the bands full back catalog ranging from 1990 to 2009.

Some from the highlights of the show included when roughly 10 fans climbed up on stage to dance around during '2000 Light Years Away'. Shortly after during 'Hitchin a Ride' Billie stopped the show to make sure a fan in the pit was okay. Lastly the setlist as a whole was one big highlight.

RollingStone.com has posted up their review of last night's show stating that even after 22 years Green Day still hasn't lost a beat. 

'The real meat of the show was aimed at the over-30 set, with 13 straight songs spanning 1990-1997. Even Armstrong's look was a callback to this era; gone were the guyliner and pitch-black hair of the '00s, replaced by the bottle-blond mess of 1994. (Armstrong's explanation: "I went to the hair salon and I said, 'Can you give me the Justin Bieber look?' And this is what I got.")'

Shortly after the show had come to a close Billie Joe posted this following message on Twitter:

'1st show of tour was amazing! Gr8 to b back in the states. Camden NJ!! Highlight for me was paper lanterns! Ready to fuck shit up!-bj'

Rare Green Day photos up for charity auction

The Grammy Awards have put up three Green Day photos for auction on ebay.com for users to bid on with all the proceeds from the auction to go to the MusiCares Foundation.

The three photos that have been put up for auction are as follows:
-A black and white photo of Green Day holding a Grammy - link.
-A photo of Billie Joe on stage - link.
-A photo of Green Day from the American Idiot era - link.

Bidding for the items end on August 15th. All of the items are a little pricey, but remember that the money made off of them will be going to a good cause.

The 64th annual Tony Awards

Tonight at 8:00pm EDT on CBS Green Day along with the cast of the American Idiot musical will be performing at the 64th annual Tony Awards.
