Last night was Billie Joe's final show in the American Idiot musical. They performed a cover of the song "Walking Out on Love and Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)" during the encore performance.

Mike Dirnt joins Billie Joe and musical cast during 'Good Riddance' last night (video)

Last night Mike Dirnt was in the audience to watch Billie Joe perform as St. Jimmy in the American Idiot musical. At the end of the show, the entire cast comes out and performs Good Riddance - but last night Billie pulled Mike up on stage to play the rest of the finale.

Billie said : 

"Just thought I'd share that tonight I went to see the American Idiot musical with Billie playing St. Jimmy. He performed wonderfully of course, but the real treat was when he stopped during the intro of Good Riddance, peered out over the audience and said, "If me and Mike Dirnt are in the same room, it's not quite right if he's not on stage with me right now." Turns out Mike had been sitting in the audience the whole time! He got right up, walked onstage, and they all played the finale together! Everyone went absolutely crazy, and it was so much fun!"

Billie sent out a tweet about it (@BJAofficial) :

"Great show last night. mr. dirnt was in the casa! very special moment. now i just want to get ina van and tour again!!"

American Idiot cast album nominated for "Best Musical Show Album" in Grammy Award

The American Idiot cast album has been nominated for "Best Musical Show Album". Other nominees include "Sondheim on Sondheim", "Fela!", and "Promises, Promises".

The Recording Academy's Best Musical Show Album is awarded to the Album Producer(s), and to the Lyricist(s) & Composer(s) of 51% or more of a new score. Last night the nominees were announced and we're happy to share that Green Day as the composers and Billie Joe Armstrong as lyricist have been nominated for the Original Broadway Cast Recording: American Idiot (Featuring Green Day)! This is the 19th nomination Green Day has received from the Recording Academy since 1995!

If Green Day wins the award, technicly speaking this would not be the first Grammy that the band has received for the songs in the musical. 'American Idiot' won a Grammy in 2005 for "Best Rock Album" and '21st Century Breakdown' won a Grammy in 2010 for "Best Rock Album".

Tune in to the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards on CBS on Sunday, February 13th at 8PM ET/PT to see if Green Day will take home their 5th Grammy award

Billie Joe sings new short song at his final performance for the American Idiot musical

Last night was Billie's final performance as St. Jimmy in the American Idiot musical. Billie had tweeted earlier the day :

"St Jimmy is sad.. This is my last day.. Tonight I'm gonna fuck shit up!! This is not goodbye.. This is so long.. St jimmy rules!"

He added a new little tune to the beginning of Time of your Life, which closes out the show.

Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong Rocks Broadway In 'American Idiot' (MTV)

If this whole rock-and-roll frontman thing doesn't pan out, Billie Joe Armstrong could have a pretty decent career on Broadway. That much was clear on Wednesday night (September 29), when he took the stage as St. Jimmy in "American Idiot," the big-budget play based on the smash album he and his Green Day mates released back in 2005.

Armstrong, who is filling in for actor Tony Vincent (away on a "family matter") all week, leapt into the role of Jimmy — a sinister specter who tries to corrupt protagonist Johnny (played by John Gallagher Jr.) — with aplomb, grimacing and goofing, menacing and mucking about, belting out songs with a sneer and never once screwing up a line (though, to be fair, he didn't really have many). It may have been just his second performance (his first was Tuesday), but he already appears very much to be a natural.

Below is Green Day's performance of 'Last of the American Girls' with the American Idiot musical cast from last night. They performed at Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey (home of the New York Jets and New York Giants NFL teams). It was a really great performance.

"Late Night" host Jimmy Fallon will welcome cast members from Memphis, American Idiot, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson and Promises, Promises beginning Sept. 13.

Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong will introduce the cast of his Tony-nominated musical American Idiot on Sept. 15; and the cast of the emo-rock musical Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, including leading man Benjamin Walker, will sing Sept. 16.

Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong to Appear On Stage at American Idiot

 Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong will appear at post-show Q&A sessions for American Idiot September 14-17 and again on September 19. Armstrong will be joined on the St. James Theatre stage by Idiot director Michael Mayer, as well as members of the cast and creative team. Time Out New York's David Cote will moderate.

"Whenever they’re in New York, [Green Day] drops in to see us," Idiot star John Gallagher Jr. told Broadway.com in June. "There are no words to describe how generous they’ve been. What we do every night couldn’t happen without what they’ve given us personally."

AI Cast performing on America's Got Talent Tonight

Hey everyone don't forget to watch American Idiot cast performing in America Got Talent Tonight, The "reality show" airs on NBC starting at 9:00pm EST.

The cast members are no strangers to TV as they have been performing on it a lot this year. That includes the David Letterman Show, The Today Show, The Tony Awards, and many more.

Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan performing her new single "Forgiveness" tonight on the show as well.

Roger Clemens, 'American Idiot' On Broadway And 'Scream 4' In Today's Twitter-Wood

 

Roger Clemens has been trending today after news broke yesterday that he'd been indicted on perjury charges.

Marlon Wayans commented on the situation, and Jon Hurwitz just wants everybody to remember the baseball player's role in the movie "Kingpin" before they pass judgment.

It was a festive day in Twitter-Wood otherwise. Wes Craven tweeted from the "Scream 4" set.

John Stamos showed off some tattoos, and Elizabeth Banks reviewed Green Day's "American Idiot" musical on Broadway. You can find out if she gave it a thumbs up or thumbs down down below, as well as where Rachelle Lefevre is going for three months and how Rob Zombie says he became God.

Green Day Heads To Suburbia: Band To Play 'Last Of The American Girls' At Jets' 1st Game

Gang Green and Green Day are ready to play together.

The New York Jets said Friday the band will play during the team's regular-season opener Sept. 13. The Jets face the Baltimore Ravens in the Monday night game at New Meadowlands Stadium.

Green Day will perform "Last of the American Girls" with the Broadway cast of the Tony Award-winning rock musical "American Idiot." The halftime show will finish with fireworks.

The guitarist Slash and Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger will play during a tailgate concert outside the stadium. Scherzinger will sing the national anthem.
